I have over 20 years’ experience with Adobe Photoshop and I do all my restoration work meticulously by hand using Photoshop tools, adjustments, & filters. I do not use third party online AI restoration software or free Apps and strongly believe and have found that the best and most natural results are achieved by analyzing and restoring each image individually by hand and understanding my clients individual needs and timeline for delivery. Unlike many online restoration companies, I never outsource my clients work overseas or to online third parties. And for many reasons, including protecting your confidentiality, I would advise you be very wary of hiring companies that do.

Here is my general editing work flow or process for restoring an old photo:

Adjust tone of image (shadows ,highlights, & mid tones ) as needed
Remove & repair all, scratches, cracks, blemishes, spots, sun damage, water damage, creases, tears, etc.
Color correct image as needed- remove color casts, adjust color balance, etc.
Enhance and sharpen the subject (s) of image if appropriate
Blur and remove background noise where appropriate
Level and crop image as needed
Background or sky replacement if desired
Removal of unwanted objects and people if desired
Resize, enlarge, and save a very high resolution digital version (300 dpi JPEG) of the image suitable and ideal for prints or canvas art
Colorize black & white images If desired

Free review and estimate: I will not charge or work on an image that is not a good candidate for restoration. I have found over the years that some old and damaged photos are just too far gone and don’t have enough digital details or resolution left to restore and enhance properly. Some photos may require major “reconstruction” which is very time consuming and not considered restoration. If that’s the case, I will let you know up front after evaluating the photo free of charge. I will then also provide a no obligation quote to repair the old picture.
In addition, images that have significant parts of the subject that are missing or obscured by major damage may not be suitable for restoration. This is a scenario I will let you know about when I review the images that have been uploaded.

Minor Damage: For photos that have minor damage and where the subjects faces are not severely damaged or missing major details, the process generally takes about 30 minutes. Contact me today for a free quote.
Moderate to Major Damage: Every photo restoration job is unique, but on average, the majority of old photos I receive and work on have either moderate to major damage and take at least 1 to 2.5 hours to repair properly. I will let you know the estimated cost up front with absolutely no-obligation.

How do I get started ?

After you have scanned and digitized the photos you would like to restore I will send you a file request link to easily upload the images (this perfect for large files of multiple photos) or you can email them to me. If its a just a few images you my be able to email them to me directly at ray@redstoneadvertising.com Please contact me here if you have any questions about sending your photos for review. After I receive the images I will review and advise if any of the images are not suitable for restoration. At this time you can also share any specific requests you may have regarding any particular image. Examples: Remove an item in the photo that is distracting. Crop the image significantly. Remove and replace background, etc.
After the images have been uploaded and reviewed I will send you a payment request & invoice via Paypal.com.
After the restoration work has been completed I will share with you “before and after” versions of all images for final review on a private portfolio page on this site. See sample page here. At this time you can let me know if you want any changes or revisions. In general, it will take 1 to 3 days to complete an order.
After you have approved the images I can either email them to you or send you a link to download your restored high resolution and enlarged images.

Do you have old VHS tapes, 16mm, or super 8mm film that you need to be restored, enhanced, or edited? Once these treasures have been digitally converted to a file format like MP4 (contact me for referrals of companies that specialize in converting old video formats) I can help enhance these memories by several means. This includes upscaling the video to a more modern or standard video formats like 1080P HD. Sharpening the footage and adjusting exposure and contrast as needed. Color correcting the old footage including removing unwanted color casts. Reducing noise and mitigating some scratches and blemishes.

General editing of the footage including removing unwanted scenes or blending and adding of different clips from other footage.
