1923 Birdseye Grand Canyon Survey Expedition Photo Restored And Colorized
This is an old and public domain photograph from 1923 of a historic survey party lead by Claude Birdseye of the USGS that were charged with mapping the Grand Canyon for potential dam sites. The expedition and journey started at Lee’s Ferry in Northern AZ on the Colorado river and lasted for over 70 days. The original black & white photo was badly faded and had some damage. This is a restored version that I also colorized as accurately as possible.
