Restored And Colorized Photo Birdseye Grand Canyon Survey Party From 1923
This is an old and public domain photograph from 1923 of a historic survey party lead by Claude Birdseye of the USGS that were charged with mapping the Grand Canyon for potential dam sites. The expedition started at Lee’s Ferry in Northern AZ on the Colorado river and ending up lasting for over 70 days. This is a restored and colorized version where I placed the survey party and their boat in a completely different background from the original photo. In this case its a present day beach along the Colorado river at the Lee’s Ferry recreation area.
